Dr. Christine Stier is a bariatric surgeon, who played a key role in introducing bariatric endoscopy in Germany. Her commitment to this new sub-specialization in bariatric surgery has made her well known worldwide. She is also an active leader in the International Federation for Surgery of Obesity (IFSO).
Christine Stier is a specialist in surgery and general medicine with an additional qualification in nutritional medicine. Her professional career has taken her to Frankfurt in 2012 as Senior Physician and Head of Surgical Endoscopy. In 2014 she moved to the same position at the Sana Klinikum Offenbach and took over the management of surgical endoscopy in Würzburg in 2017. The physician was jointly responsible for setting up several obesity centers and introduced innovative bariatric endoscopic techniques in Germany. She has already been honored with numerous prizes for her publications of articles in scientific journals and book chapters. She is also dedicated to scientific work in various committees, including as deputy chair of the German Working Group on Metabolic Endoscopy, as a member of the Bariatric Endoscopy Committee of the World Association IFSO and as a member of the German Obesity Alliance (DAA).
