Why join us?

Endoscopy in IBD is a global 4-hour long live streaming event, with 12 accomplished experts from around the world sharing their experience and expertise with you.

The role of endoscopy in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) has greatly advanced in recent years. In addition to diagnosis, in the treat-to-target era, endoscopy has become the backbone for the assessment of the therapies’ endpoints such as “mucosal healing” in both ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.

When the goals are not met, endoscopic assessment drives therapeutic optimization, switch or swap, in order to achieve them.

Furthermore, endoscopy has a fundamental role in preventing complications like the development of dysplasia and colorectal cancer, as it is known that chronic inflammation of the colonic mucosa is the main driver of colorectal cancer in IBD. Over the past years, novel technologies such as high-definition endoscopic imaging, and optical and digital enhancement tools have revolutionized the quality and level of fine details of vascular and mucosal patterns allowing a better detection and characterization of premalignant lesions, thus increasing the detection of colorectal cancer at an early stage.

Finally, endoscopy has a major role in the diagnosis and management of pouchitis in those patients with ulcerative colitis, that have undergone surgery with restorative total proctocolectomy and ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) for medically refractory disease or colorectal cancer, since this is the most common complication.

This course will examine the current knowledge and recent advances in endoscopic technologies in IBD and is addressed to IBD-focused endoscopists, clinicians, and fellows.

After this course, you will gain updates on:

  • Definition and achievement of mucosal healing in IBD
  • Indications for endoscopic re-evaluation, scoring, and optimized reporting in endoscopy
  • The latest innovation in endoscopic surveillance and the emerging role of virtual chromoendoscopy and
    artificial intelligence for dysplasia detection
  • Chemoprevention, endoscopic resection techniques, and multidisciplinary management for the management of
    IBD-related dysplasia
  • Diagnostic work-up and management of pouchitis
