Manuel joined the Veneto Tumour Registry in 2001. Until 2013 he worked at the Regional Coordinating Centre for Cancer Screening, where he mainly dealt with monitoring cervical, mammographic and colorectal screening programs for the Veneto Regional Authority, and training screening professionals. Since 2004 he has conducted annual surveys on colorectal cancer screening programs at national level on behalf of the Italian Ministry of Health.
He has a Master Science in Epidemiology. He is a visiting professor at Padua University. He has designed and completed research work, including multicentre randomized controlled studies. His main research interests include the epidemiology of screened cancers and the impact of screening on cancer incidence and mortality, using routine data sources.
He has authored more than 160 scientific articles.
